We have had plenty of discussion about it so none is needed here. Just posting seperate so those of you avoiding the "discussion" will participate. Not saying taking nate test is bad, worthless or you shouldtn't take it mind you.

-Do you think Nate should be enforced at all, somehow??

-Is it really helping anyone other than those making money off it.

    My answer:
    NO &
    NO

Most customers don't understand NATE anyhow. They want a good, competent tech. I've met lots of people with patches on their sleeves who still have no business in this business.

NO! The keyword is "enforced". Don't want the govt or anyone other than my employer dictating a certification.

-Is it really helping anyone other than those making money off it.

YES! The whole HVACR industry benefits by certification whether it be NATE, HVAC Excellence, or RSES CM/CMS.
The bar is raised for everyone (and yes, there are many techs without certification that can work circles around those with the patches)
Yes, the organizations (NATE, ESCO, and RSES) make money on the materials and tests. Contractors also make money
by raising their companies requirements and profits.

Dice, Dice, Dice! Your poll is faulty right from the start. You are "begging the question" a common logical mistake in polling questions. You have assumed in your first question that NATE is being "enforced" as you put it, whatever that means. So there are two problems with that question.

    1. You are begging the question by assuming something to be fact when it is not.

    2. The question is not clear. What is the meaning of the word "enforced"? As the pollster you can interpret the results of the answers to this question anyway you wish and then draw your own contrived "absolute" conclusions as you please.

Those participating in this poll as it is currenly written are falling for a predetermined conclusion set up in the question itself.

Lets also ask the people posting if they are NATE certified.
That can be question # 3 if I am allowed to change your survey, Ed.
