Confused RANT: Wheres all the green collar jobs?

Its been well over a year since both our current president and and our former president stated that the jobs were on the way and that green building projects were going to be greenlit.

Yet after all this time since the supposed stimulus bill was passed to help alleviate the unemployment situation by investing in energy efficient building projects and good honest hard working people have been waiting on the side lines to supply the labor force to make it happen... we get nothing.

it seems all this cash for "shovel ready" projects has gone into some sort of black hole to make sure the fat cats pockets are still lined.

Does anyone have any forcasting as to when companies will start to hire back its workforce so we can start rebuilding and actually making things again?

I am an extremely bright young individual ready to get to work to help rebuild this great nation, but I cant even get businesses to return phone calls about potential oppourtunities. I also see alot of threads in this section from other good people looking to get to work as well. but noone is looking to restaff or fill its supposed voids left by an increasingly aging workforce. Its extremely frustrating!

And all we get is sqabbling up on capitol hill! no decisions=no jobs=no hope.

    Hi;
Great post, it always seems when we get promised things, it always takes at least 5 to 10 years before anything takes affect after a bill is passed there is alot of great people out there with out a job, with way better experience and education that I have. It is frustrating when you spend good hard earned money on a good education, and all the money on getting certified to get good jobs to provide for our families. I fill what your stepping in and it does get frustrating, I am my shelf looking for a good job in the HVAC world, all we can do is just keep our heads high, and we need to keep pushing towards our dreams, good luck, and I hope you keep fighting the fight...

If you want to know what a politician is really doing.... follow the money trail (google). Look for who was promised what, and who wants to be paid off for helping elect the person in office.

Warning: This may provoke extreme tempers...

Yeah in 8 yrs GB shipped all those jobs overseas. You're an idiot my friend. Jobs have been going overseas for awhile now. Lets just blame Bush for BO not focusing on the economy for last YEAR, while he was trying to force a single payer system down our throats.

It is a problem that has been in the works for a long time. I dont think any one administration can be held accountable. unfourtunatly no administration has done anything yet to right the ship.

Actually, WE shipped all our jobs to China.

They have none of our costs.

    No litigation.

    No NAACP.

    No NOW.

    No ADA.

    No OSHA.

    No SSI.

    No Medicare.

    No Part D.

    No Social S.

    No EPA.

    No Trial Lawyers.

    No Affirmative Action.

What we DO have here is a desire to buy cheap goods. A US manufacturer of Khakis pegged his price with a little profit at over $60.

The Dokker's price? Less than half the US made price.

Now I have to tell ya, George Bush didn't bring ANY of this into existence.

So, when you wonder where our jobs went and why, you now have a list of folks with a lot of good intentions to start writing letters to.

I jusr wanted to start him thinking about how all of our well-intended policies have "priced us out" of the manufacturing sector. It's not intended to be all-inclusive.

Just gotta love the chinese quality too. Had a Haier with an out of balance blower wheel, after ordering two, it was still out of balance....We have lost it in this country as a manufacturing mecca.

Everyone wants to be a "financial advisor" and spend all day talking people into depositing their money with them. AND THEY DON'T DO ANYTHING, except deposit your money into an account and assure you its doing fine and you don't have to move it.

My first temptation is to ask you if you really believed that there would be all those so-called "green jobs."

Maybe you just "hoped," like a lot of people.

There are good reasons there are no jobs coming to life.

Chief among them is the fact that no employer knows what it will cost to hire someone. Will they be forced to insure them? Will they face additional taxes? Will the out of control spending and deficits force the Chinese to cut us off, and stop buying our Treasury bills? That could happen, and if it does, there WILL be another Great Depression.

And yes, this is the first Congress and Presidency that has demonstrated such a woeful lack of understanding of the value of our economic system.

So, if we make it to the end of this administration, or at least until January 2013 when we will have a lot of new faces in the House and Senate, businesses will have some degree of certainty that we will not be having a parade celebrating Marx and Lenin.
