    Discontinued Systems

    Sirs,

When using the AHRI directory, I frequently see some systems (that I am examining prior to dealer visit) labeled as "Discontinued Systems".

Does that mean that those can no longer be purchased?

Means they are no longer made. And what you get is from already made stock. That could be X months old.

Is there anything wrong with or to beware of if purchasing a "Discontinued System".

I do not know how there would be, but I am largely ignorant of the profession, hence my questions.

    No problem.

They're just changing to a different model.

Some of the discontinued ones, will be discontinued because they're R22 units. And R22 units are no longer allowed to be made.
Parts will still be available if and when needed

Some of the "Discontinued Systems" are also systems that have been re matched.

An example would be ARI# 3588533, current equipment by Lennox that has been re-certified.
