    Co detectors

Is there any CODE stating that a hvac contractor has to provide a Co detector or smoke detector when installing new HVAC equipment, other than new construction or rental units or at time of sale? (new york state)

Not that I'm aware of. Maybe someone in NY can clarify.

I'll throw them in on new installs. Now that you mentioned this you reminded me that I need to give a customer a CO detector...

New York state is unique in a lot of ways, but I've never heard of that requirement. The local NY boys can probably give you the most up to date code requirements.

Either way, if you do get your contractor to get you one, Insist on a Low Level CO Monitor and not, a CO Detector.

The extra money will be worth the extra protection.

You dont need a contractor to buy a low lever co detector ..... Heres a link to one being sold on the net .....http://www.clovercool.com/co_monitor.html

I dont think he was saying that a contractor was the only one that could get a low level co detector. But if you are going to have a co detector you should have a low level co detector, not a cheap one...

    1. It's a monitor, not a detector.

    2. CynicX is correct in his statement.

    3. They better get one of these off the web while they last, because I don't think Jim and the boys will let them replenish their stock when they run out.
