Thats a box of filters sitting in the closet. Filter rack is cut through closet door. Black gasket on shelf at top of picture to seal lower part of closet for return plenum. The expanded metal goes on the return side of the Rheem coil in air handler in basement. Return duct is connected to hole cut in floor.
