Neither the building owner nor the contracor who performed this particular bit of artistry seem to understand the legal implications of what they have done here. Just imagine what will happen if someone is injured by this cobbed-up mess and the lawyers get into it. Do you think that contractor's liability insurer will back him up or throw him to the wolves?

    Couple of thoughts...

Selfishness and greed will drive folks to make poor decisions...
Thinking one is not liable (corporate veil) will encourage irrational thinking...
And the biggest one: I can BS my way out of anything... why should I worry.

The bigger their ego's, the harder they fall. The important thing IMO is to be sure I do not get taken down with them... which is where pictures, detailed explanations, and signed service receipts come in.

Remember: Lawyers are only looking for someone to pin it on... they do not care who is right or wrong, who made the decision, or who looses.

Someone is taking on a huge responsibility on that one. That is just plain pitiful.

My church used to have a few of these old bastards. The Heat Exchangers cracked in two of them, the other one had a ruptured condenser coil, so all 3 of them were replaced with Trane XB13c Gas Packs.
