    Heat N Glow

Model SL-36. I am a heating contractor out of Chicago and have no experience with fireplaces. I am at the inlaws and thier FP pilot needed to be lit. Lit the Pilot and the generator held in. Fired up the burner and noticed the flame is blue at the base, some orange, a little yellow and a lot of white at the top 1/2 of the flames. Is this normal. Thought it may be an effect from the logs rather than a mixture problem. There is only a very slight amount of orange if any and it is venting properly.... Up through dedicated chimney.

Flame color and effects can vary widely among gas fireplaces.

Check the owner's manual which often describes how the fire should be built and what the flame appearance should be.

Thanks for the info. By the way he is a great dog, but he's nervous around strangers

I don't blame him. I'd be nervous too.

I have never seen a HNG unit with white at the tops of the flames no matter what the air shutter shetting is at.

    LP or NG?
