Maybe he just wired it in to test the breaker....lol
Showed up at a new job site to do a start-up on a Lennox gas-pack. The electrician on site told me that "you should check out that unit, I think something is wrong with it, it keeps tripping the breaker and my wire is good, I bet its a bad compressor!" Funny that that happened since I had not pulled the t-stat wire yet!

I thinks she needs some "freeze-on"
Maybe he just wired it in to test the breaker....lol
Did you tell the electrician he might want to check his license out maybe he can wipe his as$ with it, thats all it's good for.
lol

dealt with an electrician in new construction that could NOT wire a trane heater with 2 blk and 2 rd from heater
he just could not understand the wiring diagram, the blks went to one of his hot wire, the reds went to his other hot wire
some of those guys worry me
It`s better to be silent and thought the fool; than speak and remove all doubt.
wow, dangerous dead short. never even thought of something like that one in my career, only on hvac-talk I guess
Nice. Considering that the breaker would instantly snap back under his finger as he tried to turn it on, I wonder if he went back to check this work and STILL couldn't figure out what he did. That, and i guess the suckply house was all out of red wire that day.
Merry Christmas all.

i doubt he really checked his work..just made sure things where tight and not how things were wired
This guy must have been wearing sunglasses, a tie dye shirt and prolly had a lot of knowledge in hydroponics. That right there is hard to believe!
Did a cut in job once. We passed the electrician going to lunch. He said he had the air handler all wired and ready to go. Don't know where he got his card either. He ran the 220 and wire nutted to the low voltage wires coming out of the air handler. WOW
No kidding I found a mushroom fan with the black on one side of the toggle on/off switch and the white on the other side, then the fan was wired in parallel with the switch. I couldn't figure why the switch would not turn it off at first. They must have just kept hitting the breaker until ther inside of the toggle fried enough that it no longer made a short.
My brother-inlaw called me one day to ask me an electrical question. He had just wired in a new plug at his rental house and when the tenant plugged in her vaccuum and turned it on the motor started to smoke. He wanted to know what he might have done wrong, he said he pulled power from a junction box in the basement. He joined the black wires together, the white wires together and the ground wires together. I told him it sounded okay. He plugged a radio into the outlet and it started to humm really loud before the power switch was even turned on. I said something has to be wrong so I stopped by to check it out. Well what do you think I found when I traced the wires back to the junction box? My brother-inlaw had pulled power from the 230volt central air circuit. So I ran a new wire back to the panel for him to feed the new outlet. While I was at it I found that the hacks who had installed the A/C ran 10 gauge wire from the junction box to the unit, but the supply wire from the junction box to the 30 amp breaker was 14 gauge. So I replaced that piece with 10 gauge and then wrapped the white wires with electrical tape to mark them as hot wires to avoid any future confusion!
It really is amazing what homeowners and Hack Installers who don't know what they are doing get away with!
BTW: gotta love family, the brother inlaw gave his tenant my spare vacuum that was stored in his garage to replace the one that was fried! WTF!
Tell the brother in law he owes you a new Dyson Animal now. That should cover you assisting him and him giving away your property.
yeah i had to teach an electrician how to check a 220 breaker that was dropping one leg of power. He kept checking each leg to ground and got 120 every time no problem. then i explaine to check them both together and wow nothing go freakin figure. So he goes and gets one out of the truck. the new one is completely covered in mud.
On a job last week when Sparky came up to me and said that we had an air handler down and he checked his wiring and he had power. He told me it was most likely a 5 amp fuse on my equipment. Pulled off the disconnect access and checked for power. Hmmmm, no 230 between the legs. 10/3 with ground, black hooked up, red hooked up, ground hooked up, wire nut on the white, touched the NCV meter to the white and beeeeeeeep. Hey jackass, did you hook black and white up in the panel? Uh, yeah why? Because you hooked up red and black in the unit.
I guess they don't teach electricians how to do a basic 3 point check these days!!
Guess this is the thread were we bad mouth electricians. I had one cut the wires to the blower and make his wire there. he was so proud I almost didn't rag him. I just asked how do you turn the blower off??
not all electrician. Just the dumb ones who hook both wires to one leg on a contactor and turn the disconnect on. welded the disconnect together.
know how to use your meter and use it
