Since we're being silly- who the hell here has ever heard of "non-sinusoidal"? Sound like a medical drug description of side-effects.

How 'bout you ponder on that sinusnoodle thing. Sounds like something you would know something about and maybe have some links. Maybe you could answer this: Can harmonics effect a motor such as the op's? The only stuff I've found on the net refer to harmonics and the neutral on 120v systems and the neutral on 3 phase systems. I'm guessing they mean the ground on transformers when they refer to the neutral.
You're the one who is a self-admitted guru on motors and since harmonics and sinusnoodles effect motors I'm callin' you out to make some sense on this topic-lessin' you afeared of it, then I'm callin' ya yella!

I added in the original post that I had shed lighting, which was very vague. In fact, what I had done was shut down approx. half of the total lighting at a control point in the master suite. I did not disconnect power to the lighting panels as you suggest, and I did not measure for DC voltage as above quote recommends.

I have yet to bench test the motors(lots of opinions on this), which I believe will be informative as to whether I am dealing with motor or power supply issues.

whatever the outcome, I'll gladly join you at the bar. how long is the ride from Buffalo?
Thanks FrueCrue , we must think like doctors and eliminate possibilities one step at a time . Good hunting .
