The Last One

I caught the last half of a story on the Documentary Chanel called The Last One. It was about this old guy making whisky in a pot still the old way.
Interesting the way he surrounded the lower third with rocks and cement and how the fire was built.
He could shake the bottle of whisky and tell the proof by how fast the bubbles lasted.
I did a search and the story wasn't listed to be shown again.
While it at first seemed simple enough, after awhile I could see the craft involved. Especially how much water to dilute the product.
Got any copper sheet around?
I bought a home made still long ago at an antique store made from a copper wash tub. I use it to store kindling. People ask what it is as it has this long snout off the top.

I made a still years ago using a crock pot and some copper tubing. I made some sort of alcohol (rum?) out of molasses. Gave a couple of shots to some "real" drinkers. They both fell over in my front yard, unable to stand on thier own. I figure it had to be almost 100% alcohol.
I have thought about building up another one, just dont want any legal hassels.

I built the still years ago and haven't use it yet, I'm mostly into wine making, have aging 20 gallons of red grapes ,3 gallons of pineapple,10 gallons of cranberry, 7 gallons of mango, 1 gallon of kiwi and 3 gallons of strawberry, fermenting 8 gallons of pear-peach-apricot plus 5 gallons of beets.

Seen this last year, found it again on last month was able to record the entire show if your interested,it was a real nice show to watch,I like good shine, just enough to taste, not enough to concider a drink,considering buying the permit to make for home use only, 50 bucks well spent ,,,IMO
