    2.5 ton or 3 ton.

I have a 2.5 ton heat pump now. When the heat pump kicks on, it doesnt really throw much heat in the "heat pump" seating. when its gets @ 35-40Deg, it takes forever...like 3 -4 hours to raise the temp from 68 - 71 or 72 deg. If I go to a 3 ton unit, does that mean more BTU per hour and ultimatly healping to raise the temp faster? without having to use Aux heat?

My house is 1600 Sq feet, cape code, with an additonal 700 Sq feet in the basement that is finished. I am wondering if I am right on the line of going to a 3 ton system. Just wondering if the larger system will help my concern.

    Thanks
    Jeff

only way to know what size you need is to do a load calculation and size the unit for the a/c load.
