    Gotta love it dude.
Arguing with your Boss is like wrestling with a pig in
    mud.
After a while you realize that while you are getting
dirty, the pig is actually enjoying it.

It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it
    creative problem solving.

They have kicked the other mfgs around for at leastthe last 20 years. I am for the mfg who takes a step back and puts the contractors and indepents first but that a new thread!

It could replace R-123 as the refrigerant of choice in the manufacture of chillers.

However, it would never work as a drop in replacement because the higher condenser pressure would require coded vessels.

Good point. I haven't heard any info on it other than what I have stumbled across online. Not sure if anything is in the works to build a machine for it.

You are probally right? I would guess that R 123 will be phased out long before 2030 and a new compressor introduced.
Direct drive run with a converter up to around 200hz. This makes the compressor half the size and the chiller size much smaller.
This technoligy already exisits so when push comes to shove it will quickly appear on the market. Just a guess?

All I do know is the phase out date for R123 will probably be pushed back much as it was for R22 because they couldnt make anything better .
R123 will be around until at least 2030 and I'll be at the lake" havin a few " and tinkering with my toys by then .
If it gets cold its because of global warming and if it gets hot it is because of global warming. What the hell?

I've always wondered what kind of deal was made on that one.
When I was at the factory I asked. They said the low pressure machine is better but 123 is not allowed over seas so they have no choice but sale something different over there. I asked why not give customers here a choice and they said they do not want to compete against themselves.
