The exhaust, vented into, not up the chimney. At least they put a 90º elbow in there.

I went upstairs on my way out, and noticed that the plaster was all gone along the chimney in the dining room. He said the paint bubbled and stained, so he ripped it out.

A month later, he hasn't called back to have me fix the venting. I don't know how it worked for 5 years. It was off on a pressure switch code.

Its a Trane. The house is in Bloomfield, the old chimney district.

If a permit was pulled you would know if it's acceptable or not...I would have to say "not".

so much for equal pressue as both vents are supposed be terminated on the same wall,roof etc. but that's the least of the worries there!did you advise them it's just a matter of time before all the weight of the chimney will come crashing down wiping out everything belowthanks for posting--very scary the things people do.

Man, I hate that when they are too lazy to properly Stain and Varnish the return. Now it's on the net to make use all look bad.
