HVACR apprentice from oshawa, ontario
Hello,
I'm new to this forum. I am currently going to the Pre-Apprenticeship Training Institute in Toronto for HVACR mechanic. The course ends December 11 2009 and I would like to start searching for an employer that will be able to take me under their wing and help me to get fully licensed. I was wondering if anyone would have some tips on how to get started.
Thanks
Remo

Hamilton Ontario has a chapter of Rses. Meetings are free. Rses is a non profit educational association focused on training the technician. Contact nreggi@rses.org. Nick Reggi is the Director for Region 17 in Ontario. Also go to rses.org and look at the website. it's not what you know it's who you know!

Knock on doors. I had a boss hire a guy on the spot who was standing outside a suppliers in the rain one time. Just watch out for the ones that say that they will take you on as an apprentice then never do. You can get some experience in those shops, but they will use you and you dreams of a j-man ticket can go by the wayside.
