Williams Furnace Vent Issue
Hi,
New here, read the spots off your rules, so I think I'm okay with this question. I buy foreclosures for a living, but am not an HVAC guy, nor do I want to be. However, I recently purchased a house with a Williams 400DVX direct vent wall furnace.
Brought my guy out, who quickly pointed out the furnace lacks a complete vent on the exterior. He was not really interested in finding the part. So, I decided to find it, started by going to three installers, all said no. They recommended I call Williams, which I did after searching in vain for the part on the net, including kennspenns. Williams sent me to quickship, their parts supplier, they said they had it, I paid, then the day before it arrived, I got a call that they don't have it, didn't ship it, and don't know anyone who does. They said they no longer make parts for the model and the replacement model, 4007732, parts are not substitutable (part for the 4007732 is 9801). I asked for the spec's in an effort to bring in to a fabricator shop, no dice on that either from williams.
Here's the question: Anyone know someone in southeast mi who can find and install or make and install the vent kit? I'm out of options. Thanks. If this is a violation, please remove it, my lucks going that way anyhow.

Well, I'm not a HVAC tech, but as a rental owner, I say just replace the whole thing. A new direct vent Williams furnace is not that expensive compared to having custom vent fabricated. (especially if you shop hard!) Because let's face it, as soon as you spend money on any old thing, something else will break.

Egads, thanks for your advice, I too own rentals, this particular unit is approx $1,000.00 to replace, my hvac guy said it's in good shape, williams charges $130.00 shipping incl for the replacement vent for the newer model (I think it's approx $75.00 bucks without shipping, so you can see why I want to repair it. Also, Williams said the 4007732 vent may fit, but they won't warrant that and their are no returns. So you can see why I need a williams furnace pro.
Again, thanks for the suggestion, all are welcome.
