Piston/oriface types and sizes
Hello
Does anyone know if a Carrier #55 piston is the same size as a York #55, Trane#55 ect? For example, would one be able to put a piston that came with a york condenser into a Trane Evaporator coil?

sizes are the same
The sizes are the same, but different manufacturers make different styles of orifices. They may not seat right if you mix them. Also not a great idea to mismatch coil/condenser combinations if you can avoid it.

Agreed, but I have come across a system that has a york heat pump
with a trane evap. coil. According to york, the right piston number is in it
but I have no way of knowing if they used a piston from Trane. My local Trane
dealer does not have a piston for me to compare so I thought I would ask here.
I will probably just replace it with a txv and be done with it.
Thanks for your response.
