    McQuay Terminal install

    McQuay types:

I have to take down a 134a centrifugal to replace the motor terminals on. The new terminals have a torque rating of 20 ft pounds, pipe thread type. I was thinking of using Loctite 554, what do you guys think?

These are actually just pipe plug threads, no aluminum crush washer or oring.
Loctite 554 is about the best thread seal for refrigerant, I just want to see what you guys think.

Yeah I'd say that cherry syrup is a good bet. Regular good ole blue LeakLock works just as well.

    Hello
Just did and O87 I used 554 on the threads and 515 on the O ring I know that sounds odd but it works well.

good ole 515. we got an old timer nicknamed that cuz he used so much when it first came out it got stuck on the IGV's. He still laughs when I call him that.

I use 554 with no problems. I never had to remove it either after using it.

Done tons of them, 567. Don't need red refdrigerant sealant on the terminals and you don't need 515 on a McQuay. Use compressor oil on the o-rings. This isn't a Trane or Carrier 19D!
