my truck got robbed

I was off today, but "on call" for emergency service.
Drove into the city for a couple of computer room issues, got back to the van, and it had been broken into. Acetylene tank, vac pump, tool box...gone. Weird assortment of items. Right now NYPD is pulling fingerprints and video footage from the corner bank. What a nice day...

He got back to his van and it had been broken into.

I got back to my parking space and mine was broken into and driven away.

It could be worse. your boss will replace your tools and today was a national holiday double time and a half.

But thanks for posting the heads up. usally when things are bad service trucks tend to get hit more,make sure those hockey puck locks are on all doors.

By the way where did it happen Downtown Wall st. area??

That's kind of what it seems like. Very specific selection of things. Or else someone spooked them and they left.
According to NYPD, the same spot has been hit several times this week. 47th and Park Ave.

For you NYC guys, make sure your padlocks are on. I inadvertantly left mine off the side door, and that's how they got in.

Are they the companies tools, yours or a combination of both? Will the company cover your personal tool loss?

Unlike Electricians and Plumbers, HVAC techs. have lots of high $ specialized tools, refrigerant tanks, etc.

I wonder if the companies would be better off having plain white service vans in areas susceptable to high theft/break ins. "HVAC" logos seems to be an invitation to high $ theft potential.

It sounds like it wouldn't have done you any good, but do any of you pack a sidearm in questionable areas? I know some of the Snap On dealers have concealed weapons permits while working their routes.

Maybe you could embed some lojack's in key equipment. (reclaim machine, laptop, etc)

thats a very active area right above Grand Central Terminal,you were checked out while you were in your truck and they timed it.then when that lock wasn't put on they had there signal to hit you.anytime you have the back or side open you are always being checked out by passer bys or guys looking for a hit.plan on getting aspeech from the SM on locks being left off.they new what to grab in an alloted time parking in midtown and getting up into a building is a minimum 60 minutes to do your truck.if they act like they belong there they could select what to take a yuk it up as if it was there truck with nobody taking notice....wasn't a one man show

Some of the strictest firearms laws in the United States.

However,in Texas, I carry anywhere I'm permitted to. But, don't think I'd clear leather for a truck burglary.

you would be shot dead by the NYPD if you pulled a weapon in midtown without a badge showing.upper Harlem months ago a cop was coming out of a night shift run and caught somebody breaking into his car,he IDd himself as a cop and took off after the perp.dark and drizzly rain only street lights situation 2 cops out of an unmarked squad car start chasing the off duty cop.yell out for him to stop and drop the weapon the guy turns on the 2 cops and bang he's dead...lack of training on both ends?
