    DP across modulating steam valve

    Looking for some sage input on the following...

    25psi inlet steam to a modulating steam valve with a 195 #/hr load. I've calculated this application to require a 3.32cv valve. I can only get a 2.2cv valve or a 4.4cv valve.

    So, my question is this: does anyone have a calculation to determine DP on a steam valve knowing these variables: valve actual cv, steam load, and inlet pressure.

    I need to know the theoretical DP with the two valve options so I can pick the lesser of two evils. Otherwise the choice between the valves is arbitrary. But all steam valve sizing calculations I can find only compute CV when you have a desired DP, and not the other way around.

    Thanks for any input, and please correct my thinking if I'm approaching this incorrectly.
