Yes, remember well, when first started resdential in the 70's found them running 500,502,and R12. R22 was to high pressure and contrversial for the "0le Pharts". Nice 06e purring in the basement. Only problem, ever clean the barrel? What a snarg%$#*&()@!.

One of my first jobs was that old thing. I charged it with 22. Found out it needed R12.

Ever vent R22 into a crowded bar full of drunks?

We have 44 of these old cond barrels and have been changing them slowly as of late the water tower guy screwed up and somehow got the tubes coated with mag. or cal. (droped out of the water). cleaner will not remove the cal or mag and you can't run a brush thru the tubes so we change them out. I'm not a fantastic plumber so working with 50/50 on 2.5'' copper pipes isn't my fav thing to do in the world. But I get them done. Iv'e attached a pic so you can tell me what a horrible job iv'e done replacing the barrels.

Ahh,yes, mixing refrigerants causes weird things to happen to your pressures(and compressor). A fine mist of oil and refrigerant is great for evacuating a area.

Heh, this was in the city, back in 79. The bar was filled with stoners, baby boomers who got left behind while the rest of the responsible working folk fled to the burbs as the neighbor hood changed.

    These freaks enjoyed it.

I am soooo glad I got my schooling and started my business and moved the heck out.
