    HVAC warranty survey

    What HVAC thing was/is it?
    How long was/is the warranty?
How long until the first failure that was covered under warranty?
How long until the first failure of any kind?

    Thanks, folks. . .

American Standard AUX100R9V4V3 (2000 model) 2 stage VS furnace with 3.5 ton straight A/C (also 2000 model).

9 years old this coming November and NO FAILURES.

System has 10 year parts/labor warranty.

    I was the installing contractor.

OK, 10 yrs and 0 failures within 9 yrs. for an American Standard. From my data 12% of "HVAC units" have already been replaced within this period, for any number of reasons.
If I get enough responses that call out the brand I may be able to guesstimate brand reliability as reported on this forum, not just general warranty performance.

At least Consumer's uses real statisticians, so that is sort of a compliment.

    Not really.

    They aren't anywhere close.

So yours will probably be less accurate.

How many 1000s of reports does CR use.

And how many hundred might you get in several years.

With just as little true info about weather it was an equipment problem. Or an install or accessory problem.

Making your guess worse then CR's.

Considering how little this forum pays me to do stats ya'll are getting a bargain.

It's not guesses; statistics is a science,
