It should have been an apology speech. Those poor kids, are the ones that are going to be trying to pay off the trillions he's already squandered away.
And his first year isn't even over yet.
I know I sure didn't vote for him.

Not every President has made such a speech and the Department of Education didn't prescribe curriculum for Presidential speeches to students in the past. It's not Barack Obama hate, it's keeping the government out of what should be regulated at the local level. That's what the local school board is for. I'm sure everyone here is a big advocate of 'no child left behind' and all the wonderful things it's done for our public school system.
Democrats screamed bloody murder when G.H.W.B. made a speech to school kids back in '91.

I found this interesting. A little long but, not too long. Not really about the speech but...

well, for a child to have an opportunity to address the President is an unusual thing. A signed letter of acknowledement would be something to cherish even if you didn't vote for or like the President.

Ummmm yer wrong. Geo hw bush was last to do it. Ignoring the outcry of unfairness for the liberals. Of course Obama wasn't going to come right out and be specific about how he would turn his innocent listeners into extras from Children of the Corn VII: The Liberal Agenda. He said it all in code.My doctor gave me six months to live, but when I couldn't pay the bill he gave me six months more.

I find it hypocritical that this self made man, our president, can tell our kids to work hard like he did. He belongs to a party and dogma that says the "disadvantaged" need extra help and can not achieve by working hard. I suspect that his honest message would be get ahead by unionizing, protesting, extorting, and voting democrat.

I wonder if PresBO is good at anything else other than reading speeches off a teleprompter.
I just wonder at the arrogance of a gov't. official who seems to think that a bunch of kids are gonna watch him on TV, swoon & do good in school simply because he said to.
Also, I don't remember Pres. Bush ever making a speech that was recorded on DVD forcing every public school to play it & making a curriculum off of it. And, BTW, Pres. Bush is as much a legitimate a prez as Hussein Obama.... Only he doesn't feel the need to make endless speeches.
I thank the Lord my kids are home-schooled.WHY?
