Obama's controversial school speech released HMMMMMM

This is the third time the prez has ticked me off.

1- Letting bush and the boys slide on torture
2- Bending over backwards for republican support on the health bill.
3- getting pushed around by the right on a speech he is going to give.

Maybe he is not up to the job, if he is going to let a mob of whimps push him around like they did that crippled woman in the wheel chair maybe he is not the man for the job.

A good speaker and a good leader are two different things, its time for him to use a cheney word to the republicans and say "so"

You do realize that he went back and changed it after a lot of people, including a lot of Democrat teachers, called him on parts of it.....don't you?

As an American I say this: Regardless of the content of the the speech, it is important our children learn some level of respect and deferrence for our President. It falls to us, the parents, to teach our children the merits (or lack thereof) of what our President has to say.

Let him speak to my children, I'll teach them right from wrong.

Besides, I didn't see anything inappropriate in the released text anyway. It's a dead issue. Those people on TV with actual tears in their eyes over this are idiot herd followers.
The views and opinions posted here are my own. They do not reflect the corporate policies of my employer and will most likely get me fired at some point.

I would like to see what he changed if you have a link besides fox.

But my point was/is how he is letting little people push him around.

Like K said you do not think he released the original text of the speech, I doubt he did. Besides it is not so much the speech as the lesson plan that was issued. It did not ask what the children could do for themselves or the country but for BO. That is what I had an objection too. Reagan and Bush spoke to the children that is not a problem in fact that is a good thing. Pushing a personal agenda is what is wrong.

BTW mikey would you please get an education so your post do not read like a third grader.

The original version of the documents suggested students "Write letters to themselves about what they can do to help the president." The updated version asks students to "Write letters to themselves about how they can achieve their short-term and long-term education goals."
I have no problem whatsoever with any president addressing our kids with a positive and encouraging message. In fact, I think Obama is in a unique position to reach some of the kids who need to hear such a message most, urban and minority kids. But he should be sure and keep politics out of it. If he does that, I'm fine with it.

"What can you do to help the president?"

That was part of the suggested 'related' curriculum that I had read that I had a problem with.

That does sound like an indoctrination, entry-level.

Was it political, or was he reading a book to them?
