Yeah...they write checks with not enough funds in their account and then try to balance that account by taxing and feeing their citizenry to death.....checks and balances, alright.

I guess Canada's left is divided off from the centre with 'more than a two party system'
The way we build has a greater impact on our comfort, energy consumption and IAQ than any HVAC system we install.

You might be in better shape. The two party system is a disaster.

we had a Reform Party for a while was right wing, and the separtists had a party.

When I lived in Alberta I voted reform, my federal guy was the leader of the party too. My provincial guy was a Conserative, he was the Premiere (aka Governor) of the Province as well. I was in the "Power Riding" -congressional district I guess.

Before the last election up there some elected guy defected and went "green"

I never voted liberal or socialist in my life, but you guys figure I am some bleeding heart commie

I guess it is because I am used to all the stuff you guys are scared of and it never hurt me.

I don't know about it not hurting you. I suppose it is like the frog in the pot. Heat it up too fast and he'll jump out of it. Heat it up ever so gently, he will stay in the pot and eventually die as the pot comes to boil.
That is what is happening here in the USA. I know it is hurting me.

Hellfire, eight years of the Bush nightmare and we are still breathing. You boys need to get ahold of yourselves.

Actually day to day life is not much different in Canada as the U.S. We go to work, do stuff around the house, watch the kids play soccer, go shopping, watch the same tv, do the same thing tomorrow. Of course there are differences but not as great as life in New Orleans, to New York, to Oklahoma, to California.

So fare the country is doing alright, not sliding down a social pit. We sort of found a sweet spot for our society and things do not look like we will change from that any time soon.

Good to hear. However, your neighbor to the south ain't doing so hot.

I'm not a big believer in socialism because it defies human nature. I call it a pipe dream and a vehicle to drive toward a horrible reality. That reality is fascism. This form of government can be accomplished. The obsessive need to control is a real human trait. This is the darker side of our human subconscious mind.
