    speaking of cracked heat exchangers, if you notice a crack begining to form, and its really visible, however, its not all the way through to the other side, would you still condemn it and shut it off?? I know i would and have been doing for safety and liability issues, would like to get other opinions.

    A crack beginning to form is a crack all the same. It certainly isn't going to get any better and sure as well is going to get worse.
