Carrier overhaul

I need some help trying to locate an teardown book/video for a carrier 19fa chiller can anybody help me out, or give me some other places to look for one.

Carrier's 19FX chiller can be a R-12, R-500 or it may have been converted to R-134a. Yes there is information available for these machines. The Field Training Manuals (FTM"s) are out in the field. Carrier produces a shortened version at their training centre titled 17FA, 19FA Series Centrifugal liquid chillers. This book along with 5 additions other units is avaiable through Carrier Literature. The Form number is SM-22, publication number 020-332. These publications are somewhat basic in nature and DO NOT give specifications and tollerances, this information is in the Operation and Maintenance publication that are available at the web site. The FA series of centrifugal compressors are of the "Barrel" type and one should not try to disassemble the unit unless they are familiar with centrifugal compressors. It could be a very expensive experience if not done correctly. Remember safety is always first - keep that in mind.

Be sure you know what your doing. Ive rebuilt 30+ FA's over the years and you sure can mess up some expensive stuff,. Not to mention getting hurt. Be sure you have some serious rigging

Not sure what your doing , but if you need to pull the motor your gonna need some spacial tools for the rear seal/bearing section, plus a bar to support the rotor while you remove the stator. tools are available at carrier I believe. might be a little $$$$ . I have two different manuals for the tear down but I'm not sure how i would get them to you.

I could probably help you out some. Are you pretty good on centrif teardowns? Any prior Carrier experience?
The FA's are really not that bad a job, there are some tools you will need, they are pretty much a must have especially if you get into the rear of the motor and or pull the stator off. There are a few tips and tricks that will save you a lot of grief and headaches. What frame are you working on?

Oh and the tools we used were all built by a local machine shop and or by us. Sorry Carrier hate it for ya

it is a 450 ton mach, and I do have alot of trane, and york experence very little carrier, have done a cupple of 19dg's.

You can probably handle it with that experience level and some guidance. I have a few things I can send ya, might take a few days for me to put it all together though. Check out my pics, probably come up in a search for 19FA.
