Carrier vs. Trane vs. Bryant
I have a 22 year old system with an A/C that is failing. Since I'm remodeling my basement, this is the right time to replace the whole system so I have easy access to re-route exhaust.
I have narrowed my complete indoor/outdoor replacement of my 60%eff furnace and 10 seer, 3Ton A/C to 3 choices out of 7 proposals. I plan on being in the house at least 7-10 years. I'm looking for feedback on the Trane vs. Bryant systems at the lower price point (~equal) or the higher priced Carrier.
Since all 3 furnaces are 95% efficiency, I'm getting the tax rebate off of that.
When I run the payback on expected savings just based on AC usage differences it seems like the Carrier doesn't pass up the Bryant/Trane for 10 years after everything is out of warranty anyway.
Just looking for feedback for a newbie to all this.
Carrier - +$2300 over the other two systems after all rebates
80k BTU Infinity ICS, 95% furnace
3 Ton Infinity17 AC.....17 Seer
3 Ton Evaporator Coil
Infinity Control
Bryant
80k BTU Model 355 95% furnace
3 Ton MOdel 123 A/C - 13 SEER
3-1/2 Ton Evaporator Coil (since my ductwork would handle it for better humidity control?)
Evolution Control
Trane- ~same cost as Bryant
80 k BTU XV95---TUH2B080A9V3VA Furnace
3 Ton XR13 A/C - 13 SEER
3-1/2 Ton Evaporator Coil (since my ductwork would handle it for better humidity control?)
???? Control (I'll have to follow up on this one)

Go with Carrier. You don't have to get a 17 Seer Condenser is you don't want to spend that much more money.

Yes, but their $1,000 rebate which ends in 2 weeks is only for the 17 or 21 SEER AC which is what brought the price that close. If I get a Carrier 14 or 15 SEER the price is about the same.

ahh. good old carrier cool cash rebates. So if you get a 14 or 15 Seer Carrier, then your price should be about the same as the others plus you'll get the tax credit. I'm Bias to Carrier I guess since I am a dealer. lol Go with whatever is the best deal for you. I'd go with Bryant over Trane though. (my opinion again.)

None of the 7 offered a dual fuel unit.
Of Course the bills are pretty confusing
Last Month GAS $1.54 per CCF (Inlcudes all fees, taxes etc divided by usage)
Last Month Electric $.129/KWH (Inlcudes all fees, taxes etc divided by usage)
I'll look into the lower SEER Carrier, but expect it will still be ~$1,800 more than the other two systems.
Any thoughts choosing between the Bryant and Trane if my budget doesn't let me move up to the carrier?
Simple financial calculation wouldn't show the Carrier with payback in 10 years if SEER reduced. What intagibles might I be missing?

Be aware that the only difference between Carrier and Bryant is the cabinet design. They are the same product. Here, Carrier Mid-Atlantic is the distributor, and they stock Carrier, Bryant, and Payne. That said, the difference in price is mostly from the dealer: does this company include more than the others?

Operating Cost should be evaluated along with equipment selection

Specifically Mid-Ohio, as in close to Mid-Ohio Raceway? Or a more specific town? Reason being is I am in Ohio, and I'm just curious as to who you got your quotes from. I'm too far north to offer you an estimate, but maybe I can help recommend a specific company.
