I found some home made mary jane pipes made from plastic soda bottles, there were also a few toilet paper roles with foil screens. This was at a friends house who had two teenage sons about 15 and 17 years old. They were found in both bedroom ducts. They were getting rid of the evidence when they heard someone coming. Although the dad would not have been able to smell anything since he kept going to the shed while we were ther working. The smell was stronger in there

I had a residential call for "Odd smell in the house". Went out, pulled the panels off the furnace, in the return plenum (side-flow application), was a pair of underwear. The sheet metal duct went straight up vertically from the return plenum to a filter grill in the upstairs living room. I took the drawers up into the house, holding them in my channel-locks, said:"I don't know about the smell, but I found these in the unit". Lady said:" I wondered what happened to those, I was cleaning the dust off of the inside of the filter grill, and they fell in".

A few years back I was working residential and got call to a new customer that had a awful smell coming from the air handler. I took the panels off and the oder worstend so I tried to pull the electic heater pack and for some reason it would only come half way out and the oder was horrible. As I lookied in the partial hole from the heater package just to have a large dead racoon scary the $hit out of me. The whole heater package had to be replace and the air handler sanitized to get the smell out. I weight the critter and just for giggle and the sucker was about 20lb. Found out the home owner loved to cook fish and had a contractor do a addition the previous year and he used cheap flex for the one run to the room.

I got a 50.00 tip out of that one.

Baby birds in their nests, lots of them.

Then there was the well aged and still juicy remains of a blackbird that somehow managed to crawl about 40' into a dryer vent with 3 90 degree ells in it...that was not fun.

Two newborn kittens rolled out of a flex line I was tearing out---little boogers still had their eyes shut. Their dead siblings were on the ground nearby. Plopped them in a towel set in my hard hat, took them home and raised 'til my brother gave them a home. They lived over 16 years.
(The wise men of modern thought) adore a god made of putty or of wax - plastic, effeminate, molluscous, with no masculine faculty about him, and no quality that entitles him to the respect of just and honest men, for a being who cannot be angry at wrongdoing is destitute of one of the essential virtues, and a moral Ruler who is not angry with the wicked, and who refuses to punish crime, is not divine. ---Spurgeon

Dead cat, live cat, dead squirrels, dead chipmonks (lots of these), dead birds, under ware, socks, paper towels, coins, rags, growing things, dead former growing things, wretched goo! Even found some junkey's needle and spoon once in a hotel job.

Was tearing out a gravity furnace and pulled the round pipe down that went to the bathroom. Was pummeled by about 20 old nasty kotex. Couldn't eat for a week.

single shot youth size 410 shotgun and half empty box of shells--the shells were made of paper--homeowner had no clue where it came from. Found in the return duct of old general store being renovated.

I don't do much ductwork, but I got called for a roof leak at a location and when I got there I noticed right off that the filter door was off. I was going to put back up when I noticed that there three baby pidgeons in the return hiding from the rain. I told the customer and they let them stay until they left.

Ran across some 8x10 glossy pics of scantly clad teenage girls above the drop ceiling in an eye doctors office. Was balancing the system when I found them. Didn't want to start anything so I left them there and didn't say anything.

Had one where few other techs before me had gone out. Couldnt figure out why system kept freezing up. I opened the filter grill on the base of the wall (bonus room system) and found a basket ball rolled half way down the 16" flex run. The homeowners son denied it was his. I picked up the flex and just rolled it back into his room. Runnin like a champ ever since.
