RTHD Trace 530 Temp Sensor Question

I have an RTHD that needs a new Discharge Temp Sensor .. the old one is brittle and has bare wire exposed.. also i get weird readings from it. The chiller will not load past 60% because of this. Picked up a new sensor plugged it in thinking it was going to work. After some research i found you need to bind the new sensor. Im not too bad with computers, i just want to know is the cable you hook up to the screen a regular com. Port cable? Its nothing fancy that you have to buy from trane is it? I read you have to bind the new sensor and tell it what it is. The guys from trane said something about putting a magnet over the sensor board.. but did not go into detail.. any one here have any idea what he is talking about? In the book it says nothing about a magnet? Thanks for you help.

I would suggest that you get the Literature on Techview and CH530.

They will tell you step by step how to do what you want to do.

It is pretty involved if you are starting from scratch.(way to involved to cover the whole process here, it will take several pages of instruction)

Aw...come on. It's not THAT involved. After all, the hardest part is finding a South pole magnet

6 foot long (or any other length) 9-pin RS232 cable and a Trane pocket screwdriver w/ magnet. Follow the instructions from TechView.
