Loud Bang from outside unit when shutting off?

I am hearing a loud bang from outside unit when it shuts off. When standing next to it while it shuts off I can almost say it is coming from the compressor inside. The inside and outside unit are 2 months old....what do you guys think it is?

Call the installing contractor back, if it's only two months old. All we can do is guess.

so a loud bang is not normal? ;o) there is also a hissing sound right after it shuts off, it is very low and cant be heard unless standing next to it.. I was hoping not to have to call the contractor, we almost went to blows when he installed an oversized unit which he finally changed to a smaller sized unit which is now making a banginf noise when shutting off...what a nightmare this whole a/c experience...the a/c works great ..im just wondering what the loud noise could be...

Loud noises,not normal. Don't hesitate to call. Maybe the unit took a hit from the mower, who knows?

Either call the instaler back, or another company you don't mind paying.

Might not be the best practice to stand next to things you know are going to make a loud bang! The next one might be your last.
