    Difference between 4TEH and 4TEC air handler

    Are the Trane 4TEC air handlers supposed to be more compact? They seem to be the same size. I was hoping someone new the differences between the 4TEH and 4TEC air handlers.

    4TEH has a high efficiency (not variable speed) motor. They're also narrower in some sizes. 4TEC is just the standard air handler.

    The TEH has the vortica blower housing plus an ECM motor, specifically the X13 technology which is fixed speed but high efficiency. It can sometimes get higher ratings than a variable speed motor.

    The vortica is much quieter. It will also fit into places that var speed air handlers cant, like 23 inch closets
