Carrier Infinity SEER 19 Control option
I need to control a 2 speed Carrier Infinity Seer 19 condenser (NOT HP) using the Y1, Y2 terminals NOT and the infinity interface. This is because the furnace is a Heil 96%/Vs unit not compatible with Infinity. Units were not replace at the same time. Can the Infinity interface PCB be disabled? Carrier installation manual indicated Infinity controller is required but unit has G,C,Y1,Y2 terminals and operates perfect with 24v on Y1 &Y2. However, unit will not start with power on Y1 only. Heil furnace blower drops speed when set to Y1 so reduced cfm flow looks reasonable on the air side.
Moved thread to residential.
The controls forum, is geared more toward commercial applications.
Your Carrier contractor should be able to get support from their distributor, and or carrier on this.
I am very familiar with the infinity line and the infinity 19 is only compatible with the infinity furnace and infinity control...
You sir have a mis application of a infinity 19..
You need to get ahold of your installing contractor and have him rectify the problem by installing a infinity 16 that is capable of operating off a regular 2-stage stat..
Infinity 19 is a infinity component only available with a infinity system..
Call your installing company and state to them they must either change the infinity 19 to a infinity 16 or change your furnace to a infinity furnace with the infinity control!!!!
Not good news - If control is via Infinity system only, why did Carrier include Y1,Y2 terminals. Especially Y1/Low since Y2 can be used to operate effectively at high speed. Thanks for the feedback.
They used a board that is used in other application with differant software and slightly differant relays.. its called using one board with differant systems to keep cost down..
Carrier did not make a mistake.. The y2 is used as an emergency option only to have cooling until the infinity control can be replaced..
The only mistake was the installing contractor that you bought the system from.. Or did you buy the a/c off the internet..
I don't know why this is so hard for you to understand unless it was your fault.. If not have your installer make it right..
