Question for Texas employers
do you ever turn down potential employees for criminal records who have their yearly Texas registered permit?

That would depend on the crime committed.

well, without getting into a big long story (again)
i have a weapons violation from over 15 years ago, it was a felony dropped to misdemeanor and later expunged.
my record is not visible in California to non-government , however , since CA refuses to seal criminal records of people over 18, i found out the hardway that my record shows up as a felony in Nevada.
...but Nevada has their own luney-tunes way of running background checks, they think half of America has been to prison.
i received my Texas permit and i'm trying to gather information t see if i'll have any problems.
i know that a few years back Texas disbarred a judge for refusing to issue a work permit for a record similar to mine.
i have a job pending out here right now but i'm thinking of getting the hell out of here.

I wouldn't have a problem with the story but,I think everybody should carry a gun.
I don't know how others feel about it though.
Tell the truth, and hope for the best.

That should fly with most employers around here -our application asks if you have been convicted of a felony.it was a felony dropped to misdemeanor and later expunged.

Depends on the felony , if you got into a bar fight at 18, broke someones nose & it was called a felony then probably would not have a problem.
If B&E,theft or drugs- then it would be a waste of time for both of us.
Good luckLife as an adult is much like life in kindergarten - If I make it through the day without crying or hitting some one, then it was a good day!
