    OD Temp Sensor reading incorrectly

My first Vision Pro IAQ 9,000 series tstat with the optional OD temp probe mounted inside the condensing unit, wired with the TSat wiring would read about 5 degrees higher than ambient, untill the condenser would kick on

The IAQ Tstat has replaced with a new one, as well as a new probe. The new probe has been re located to a shady eve by a Pro as well as new independant wiring.

It now reads about ten degrees higher than ambient. Today, 93F OD, tstat reads 103F. Can this be adjusted to make it closer to actual ambient temperature? As of now, the OD temp option is worthless. The delta temp is not linear. Sometimes it reads 3 degrees higher than OD ambient in lower temps. Ie: in the 70's outside.

    Happy father day

Hi Richard.Still letting that sensor get to you.LOL.

It can not be recalibrated in the field.

They claim the sensor has a accuracy of +/- 1.5 degree at 70F.Now i wonder
what is the accuracy at 93 degrees.

I'm thinking maybe that the wire from the sensor does not go directly to the stat.If I recall we tied the sensor back in at the ah in the attic.I'm pretty sure that it only had one set of wire coming from the stat and we used a couple conductor from that set.

So in short we change it from the ah going out to the outdoor unit only to turn around and do the same thing back at the stat.Could be the problem.
Do not think so but it would be worth a try to drop another conductor down the wall just for the sensor and see if that the case.

Give me a call and let do it.that way we would know for next time around.Heck i might even bring some shielded cable and see if that makes a difference.

As far as I know. Only the indoor temp display has an offset.

How many times must one fix something before it is fixed?

Try running a wire just for the sensor, not be in the same sheath with the other low voltage wires and it has to be on the north side of the structure in the shade. Anytime we have had this problem, a dedicated wire and/or moving the sensor has solved it.

[QUOTE=simpleman;3662432]Hi Richard.Still letting that sensor get to you.LOL.

Naw, not really. I was just wondering if anybody out there had the same issues with this sensor. I checked it yesterday and it read 104, I thought WOW, not even close. Everything else works perfect! This is not worth the time or effort. Thanks for everything!.

Yes it is.I would like to see if it would make a difference.Lets get together this week and see if that the case.We will never know unless we try.

Late in the day, the setting sun hits the side of my house , and what is normally shaded. The temp rises about 5-8 degrees. I just ignore it and figure it's giving me the "heat index". Actually the outdoor unit is also getting the same effect, so it acutally gives me a more accurate local ambient temprature.... especially in the winter.

Like someone else mentioned. Try re-routing the wire. Ideally it should also be a shielded cable... and the shield needs to be grounded...otherwise it won't shield anything. You need to avoid running the cable... even a shielded one... near and A/C power inculding the 240VAC for the compressor or even the 24VAC control wires.

    Don

Alright, my arm is twisted As you, Motoguy and Bobby stated, mayby it is a simple solution to this issue that can be passed on to help others with this same problem. Besides, I love a challange, as it seems others here do as well.
I have some GREAT shielded wire that I can get my hands on that is being disposed of at work. Multi conductor, braided shield along with a foil shield with a grnd drain (an uninsulated wire that wraps around the sheild under the outer insulation). The outer insulation is heat resistant, etc. Mayby it's worth a try.

PS: Last saturday, 93 degree's OD with a heat index of 101 or 106?? I dont remember, the system maintaned 73 ID with 48% humidity. The wife and daughter took a nap and were under blanket's))
