Staefa Controls PC Tool

I have been reading the other posts on the Staefa PC tool program. I am very interested in obtaining a copy if possible. My smart tool has given up the ghost...

Disclaimer: I'm not a big poster here (or on the fishing forum I belong to) as my knowledge base is limited to the facility I'm with. I have a Staefa contol system that was installed in 1990. It was upgraded several times early on and it's been mainly a maintenance relationship since then. I've read the rules and believe me, I hate to post for the second time and request assistance but after seeing that several people have offered PC tool to others I thought I would at least test the waters.

I had PC tool in the past and used it to tunnel to the smart card via the trunk/address but it was lost in a hard drive crash many moons ago. I still have a couple of PC's capable of running DOS based programs and just recently retired the Staefa front end for Siemens Insight.

Any assistance would be appreciated and if I can return the favor with information on some very old Staefa equipment let me know.

Having major problems with my smart tool and then it finally stopped working.So your help would be appreciated and if you can send me details of what cable/cables needed to connect laptop to staefa card and wall sensor. thanks

The Smart Tool battery probably went bad.
I'd try having someone with the proper skills (soldering iron, circuit board) replace the battery first.

Done that as well, sent smart tool to other Electronics expert and had same reply...

I'm am now fighting the same battle, got the cable, but ran into the software barrier. So if anyone can send me a copy of PC Tool I sure appreciate it. Or let me know how to get it.

Send me an e-mail address and I can send u a copy of PC-Tool. Good luck on getting it to work. It can be a bit cranky. IF you have a smart tool there are places to get them repaired. I would first try to use it with the charger plugged in, if it works replace the battery or just us the charger. U can get a battery at most battery plus warehouses. I have opened mine up and pressed down on the chips to make sure they are seated ok.

I am being challenged to communicate with an old Staefa Smart 2 system which has the Talon front end. I would like to get a copy of the "Thumb Drive PCtool" and pin outs of the required cables. Anyone have an idea where I can locate them? Any info on how to use the PCTool progam and /or work the Staefa controllers would be appreciated as well.
