new gas furnace brand, specs
My 1987 Snyder General is on its last legs.
Being in SoCal where the temperature is relatively mild, I don't think I need a 95% furnace, regardless of the rebate for that. My condo's only around 1,350 SF on 2 levels so the HVAC is only used for short periods most of the year, perhaps more hours on hotter summer days for maybe 3 months/yr.
I had #1 HVAC contractor that I used for re-ducting last year quote me $ for a 95% Goodman installed (no coil), and another #2 contractor quote me $ for an 80% Bryant variable. #1 quoted $ for 80% Goodman and $ for 80% Goodman variable.
I think I would be happy with a variable 80% to keep the 2 levels climate uniform, and also importantly, that the model is very quiet and well made, so I'm wondering which manufacturer to go with, and also don't know which contractor since they each seem to be pushing their own brands.
I'm guessing #1 might be better but more expensive, and could be negotiated down. #2 quoted me a Bryant model number that is not on their web site, so I am suspicious he is trying to pawn off an older model on me, which concerns me.
Can someone with experience in this realm advise brand or spec?

Sorry about that.
Since you are the moderator and no doubt have experience, can you advise?
Pick the contractor you feel best about. Don't worry about the brand.
