Societies worse off 'when they have God on their side'

A study by Gregory S. Paul, Baltimore, Maryland (Creighton University) in which with 800 million people were surveyed. The data is current gathered between 1990 and 2005.

It appears to come precisely to the opposite conclusion of the study carried out by Mr Paul.

However, a fact I recall from one of the essays I read on the subject several years back is that people were more religious 100 years back than they are now and so it simply has to be that the older generation are also going to be more religious.

Certainly amongst the younger to middle age generations the studies show that quality of life is far better for atheists.

    Angry

Studies, surveys and polls can and are almost always manipulated to support the desires of the one doing the studies, surveys or polls.

There is no way to have a clue as to the affect that religion has on a society over if a society did not have a religous influence because there is not and never has been a society that has not been heavily influenced by some religion or another.

These are studies of facts. Not peoples opinions.

Regarding your behaviour and reactions to all this look up confirmation bias and polarization on wikipedia.

it takes about 15 minutes to reasearch the history of Hitler and Communism to learn the kind of damage atheist societies cause.

    It's humans that cause damage.
Godless and God fearing societies have shown ruthless efficiency at killing others for a number of very flawed reasons for a long period of time, not just some isolated one time incident.

Some times it's in self defense, other times they are the aggressor.

If you spent a little more than 15 minutes you'd then discover that none were killed in the name of atheism. Many of them played tennis too. They didn't kill in the name of tennis either.

Hitler had support from the Roman Catholic church and his word was decided, by the clergy in Germany, to be the new holy ghost.

Now, how many people has the Christian church killed precisely in the name of religion!!!

You really do think we are a bunch of very stupid people, don't you Marc?

Of course no one is killed in the name of Atheism. Since atheism is a belief system that is a belief of nothing, then how in the world could you kill in the name of nothing? However; since you want to make this the defining point, then it is not wrong to state that all killings done for strictly militaristic, financial, power and personal reasons were done for no cause, therefore with an atheist attitude.

Support from the Roman Catholic Church? That is just a low and despicable rationale of events from an extremely turbulant time and place. Everyone here knows that I am no fan of the RCC, however, for you to make such a blanket statement just shows how low you will go in your hateful rant against those of faith.

Many people are killed in the name of religion, and that has nothing to do with God. Killing in the name of God is most often done by those who just use God as an excuse. These are in fact, Godless people. Yes, even though they claim to be acting in the name of God, their actions are purely Godless, which makes their actions atheistic in nature.

If your issues are with religion, you and I can bounce off of each other all night and mostly agree. But you are attacking people of faith and God Himself, and that I will never allow to go unchallenged.

Ummm, actually millions. That does not mean that God was at fault. These are mostly the evils of man using God as an excuse to commit evil.
