Two Systems or One Zoned
We are replacing our current furnace and AC and are having trouble making a decision. What would you recommend? Here’s the scoop:
Current system, 1987 vintage:
50k BTU Gas Furnace
75k BTU Gas Furnace (zoned into 2 zones)
2- 2.5 ton ACs
2 humidifiers
Mastertrol controller
Option 1:
60k BTU 3-stage, 95% Bryant
80k BTU 3-stage, 95% Bryant
2 - 2.5 ton 15 SEER Bryant 165
4” pleated Filter
3 - Bryant Evolution stats
2 – April Air 600 Humidifiers
Use existing Mastertrol controller
Option 2: (single system zoned into 3 zones)
135k BTU variable capacity 95% Lennox Signature G71MPP
6 ton 16 SEER two-stage Lennox XC-16
Pleated filter HC16-10 Lennox
3- IAQ stats
2 – April Air 600 Humidifiers
3-zone Honeywell controller
Difference in cost is $ less for option 2.Last edited by beenthere; 05-28-2009 at 09:57 PM. Reason: Removed price

I use two systems in my house.
Dump the april aire and go with a Honeywell true steam for humidification though.
The Bryant also has a dehumidification option that is nice.
I do not know about the Lennox systems, someone will be by to tell you about them. You sure are cocky for a starving pilgrim.
