trane xr12 question
I have a trane xr12 heat pump. Yesterday my wife complained the house was getting warm when the cooling was on. The air handler was running, so, I checked the outdoor unit. The compressor was running but the fan was not. I flicked the fan with a stick and it took right off and the house began cooling off. Does this sound like a fan motor problem and is this likely to be expensive to repair? If it's not going to be too expensive, I was going to call a technician on Tuesday otherwise it will have to wait a bit. Thanks.

What constitutes exspensive is relative. Nobody here will even give you a range of what this repair should cost. However, if you surf the web you'll find contractor web pages from around the country that post their 'standard' charges for certain frequently occurring repairs. This could give you an idea.

Not a pro, but sounds like it could be <sounded like a DIY diagnostic suggestion> If so, compared to all other repair costs, should be relatively inexpensive.
