Seems Islamic clerics want to make sure their followers cannot be tempted into anything. They want to regulate online behavior.

...Amidan, who heads the Ulema Council, said the growing number of Facebook users in Indonesia was a controversial subject among Muslim leaders and that he favored a ban because of possible sexual content.

"People using Facebook can be driven to engage in distasteful, pornographic chatting," said Amidan, who was monitoring the two-day conference in the town of Kediri, in eastern Java.

They're worried about facebook when there are all those other internet sites out there...with all that uncensored content....

I hear so many news stories about them dragging people from their houses,
hacking the parents to death
and raping the girls
long before I ever heard of facebook
and oddly enough the rape victims are found to be at fault
while the sickos go scott free

all in all I would have to say that facebook chatting is not the cause of the problem

I would say so too. Anything to control their followers though!
