Carrier Infinity ICS furnace (58MCV) and VisionPro TH8000 thermostat
I'm a consumer and not an expert, so please forgive me in advance!
I just had a Carrier Infinity ICS furnace (model 58MVC) installed, along with a 2.5 ton Carrier Performance series heat pump (model 25HPA5). Pretty happy with it! Gotta love that tax credit.
For some reason the Infinity thermostat wasn't recommended or installed (not sure why). The Honeywell VisionPro TH8000 was. I'm happy with it, but there are some Infinity features I don't know how to set up properly on it. I'd appreciate any advice.
First: a feature of the furnace is that (in addition to the variable speed blower) it will "deliver a near-continuous flow of warm, heated air" to maintain more consistent temperatures. My question: what should the fan be set on to take advantage of this? There are three options: Auto, On, and Circulate (on every so often to circulate the air).
Second: there is a feature their marketing folks call "ComfortFan" which lets you set the fan speed for that continuous-fan option. Is there a way through my t-stat to set that?
Third: I guess this is a general question. Am I losing access to features of my new Infinity furnace (and the new heat pump) by having this non-Infinity thermostat? I hope not - otherwise I'm not sure why the Infinity t-stat wasn't recommended.
Thanks very much in advance!
The infinity thermostat is really needed to operate all the fancy features.
I wish I had a $1.00 for every response I deleted.....
"Decidedly Superior in a twisted pathetic way".....
The combination of the Infinity 58MVC furnace and 25HPA5 heat pump qualifies for a $500 rebate from Carrier. But you must also have the Infinity controller. as part of the installation.
I suggest you call the installer immediately and request the Infinity controller.
They dealer must be a "FAD Dealer" to participate in the rebate program.

How tall are you Private???!!!!
Are you sure about that? I had a quote from a Carrier dealer who was not a FAD. His company participates in the Carrier rebate program. My neighbor had used this Carrier dealer last year and received the rebate.

The Vision pro can't control the 3 stages of heat the furnace has.
Get the Infinity 'User interface'. Aside from the features you are asking about, there are several others including diagnostic features only available with the Infinity UI.
Where are you? Are you done yet? I got ONE more call for you.....
Thanks for the quick replies from everyone! I'll definitely contact the dealer about swapping out the Honeywell controller for the Infinity. The $500 rebate more than offsets the difference in cost.
Exact controller model #?
One follow-up question. On the carrier site, there seem to be three models of the Infinity controller:
SYSTXCCUIZ01-B and SYSTXCCUID01-B seem appropriate, but from the "product specs" part of the page, they look identical.
What's right for me? (model 25HPA5 heat pump and model 58MVC Infinity furnace)?
Here's the carrier description (see the "product specs" tab): http://www.residential.carrier.com/p...infinity.shtml
Thanks again - I really appreciate the advice!
I figured this out with some more Google research. The carrier site wasn't clear, but I found out elsewhere that the "D01-B" is what I need (one system controlling the whole downstairs). The "Z01-B" is for one system controlling several zones which I'm not doing.
Thanks again for the great responses.
What rebate are you referring to?
