    $50 house?

Some friends of mine are moving to the Dominican Republic for some missionary work. To support their first few years there, they are raffling their home.

    Whats the reserve?
To put the world in order, we must first put the nation in order; to put the nation in order, we must put the family in order; to put the family in order, we must cultivate our personal life; and to cultivate our personal life, we must first set our hearts right.

They hope to sell 10,000 tickets, I am sure there is a number that if they don't get to they will refund, that's my guess anyway.

They have to hit 5000 tix. If they don't sell 5000 tix, they'll refund your money.

I'd be real surprised if they don't sell them. We attend a church with 18000 members. Plus, their story has been running on the local news.

Anyhow, heck of a charity and a great opportunity to support some great people.

If I win, I'll just sell the house. No city living for me. I could pay off my mortgage and be debt free with the proceeds.

    That's a great idea.
No reserve. No retreat. No regrets.

For those who have fought for it, freedom has a sweetness the protected will never know.

    Many ears ago.

There was a news article about a guy that wanted to rafle his jouse.

He found out the state or the IRS had laws that prevented it.(gambling laws)

He ended up having to change it to a race, and charge an entrance fee.

You could rent it out, and let the tenants pay off "your" house.
And have twice the value after they paid off your house.

I could do just that. That crossed my mind, too.

As to your other post, they had to jump through many hoops to do this raffle. Yes, the gaming commission is involved as is the IRS and Kentucky Revenue Department.

    Rob,

If they don't unload the house, does that mean they are not going to do their missionary work?
