    increasing EER

    This is the equipment that the contractor I'll probably go with has selected. He gave me an eer dealer printout that shows this system achieves an eer of 11.8, not enough to get the tax credit. What can I ask to have changed to what to get to 12.5? Also, should it piss this guy off if I asked him to yank everything out and give me a few days as I want to refinish the heater/air handler/coil closet? [40 year old unpainted drywall, unfinished return air cavity, so forth]

    American Standard Allegiance
    4A7A6036C100 - 16 SEER

    AVD2B080ACV32A - variable speed blower, two stage furnace

    4TXCB036BC3HCA

    {I hope I got the numbers right, the guy doesn't print too neatly but according to what I've heard he's an excellent installer}

    If you want to finnish the closet.
    Just let the guy know well in advance that you want it removed one day. And the install done another day.

    That way he can schedule his work load better.

    How many times must one fix something before it is fixed?

    For a split-system a/c to be eligible for the Fed Tax Credit: 16 SEER and 13 EER. The 12.5 EER is for a heat pump.

    A 95% AFUE furnace also qualifies.
