    When the gas line gets so hot from the flame roll out, you carefully wrap it with pipe insulation. The thing on the floor is a piece of 1/4" floor tile. You install the floor tile underneath the gas valve to keep it from melting down. Robin I think James recommends 1/2" floor tile in this paticular application to prevent gas valve from going NOVA.
    This thing was still working.
