i have goodman SSZ14 Heat Pump. im wanting to know how many amps it pull when it is heating and cooling. it looks like to me from goodmans website it uses 10 to 15 amps but that dont seem right it is on a 30 amp breaker. im just trying to see how it cost me to run it for an hour.

The breaker is just there to protect the circuit.

10 to 15 amps sounds about right for 2-3.5 ton units. Actual amp draw varies depending on operating conditions.

Goodman has all the data available in their spec sheets.
General public's attitude towards our energy predicament: "I reject the reality of finite resource depletion and substitute it with my own; energy is infinite, we just need an alternative storage medium to run the cars on. The economy can grow indefinitely - we just need to "green" everything! Technology is energy! Peak what?"

The compressor draws higher amps on start-up then it does during normal operation, hence the 30 amp breaker. Use Ohm's Law to figure out your amp draw.

30 amp is the max amp protection it is allowed to be connected to.
    And 22.4 the minimum.

The actual amp draw will vary as the load it is working against varies.

i was asking because i had a friend over the other day and he saw my breaker box is only 100 amps. i have electric stove, water heater, dryer and heatpump (with gas furnace backup). he said that was way to much for a 100 amp service. is that true?

Your at the limits of your electrical service.

How often do you intend to being using all four burners of your range, running your dryer, tapping large amounts of hot water, and running your HP in cooling mode at all at the same time while its 95 plus degrees outside.
