    Okay.

When they put it on the other end (assuming that's what you mean by "other side") did they turn it around, or does it still face the same direction?

So, you are saying that they took the fan marked as 25a in the doc, which is mounted that same way in the pic you posted, and put it on the other end of the shaft, turned around, so that the same chamfered side of the hub fits up against the armature?

In the pic you posted, that fan will pull whatever is surrounding it in towards the armature, if the shaft end you are showing turns CCW.

Thats the same end with call out number 26 on it in the diagram, right?

    this job is done.
but this is how the cooling fans were when i took it apart

when trane sent it back that fan was on the other side
it is liquid cooled and the fan should pull from the inside
i believe the original fan was on the wrong side, or ofcourse they both were??

this side turns CCW but i think that is a CW blade
i do not know the internals of that machine, what does the fan do? push gas into the stator? or pull it out?

i understand that it should pull from those motor cooling flanges that you see in pdf and pull out across the stator

Geez, we almost need "go to meeting" here.

    Okay.

The fan marked 25a is now on the other end, turned around so the same edge of the fan hub is closest to the armature, and THAT end (the 25b end) is turning CCW?

That fan will pull towards the armature.

If the shaft in the pic is turning CW, then the flow will be AWAY from the armature, but I don't understand why the airfoil design faces the wrong direction compared to the airflow over a wing.

Unless they are doing that to help reduce cavitation....

I'd have to read something about that fan to really know, but yes, CW in the pic WILL pull from the armature toward the shaft end.
