'Morning Bret and everyone! Yep, looks like fast food would be too challenging for her. As long as they got a decent CRM (and even if not), there's no excuse not to keep accurate records and not to look them up every time they are dealing with a client (patient). Unfortunately I work with too many people who don't keep them or use them.

Ya Karen and I think she should work for Time Warnner Cable, she would fit right in.

That's a good way to keep fit! As for that admin assistant.. Imagine if she's handling a patient's scrips! Not just about time and money, but lives could be put at risk. Who knows, she might not have a culture of proper record-keeping instilled in her and some additional training might pound it into her skull.. I've met some people who made mistakes that would make me wonder how they're able to put on their pants but with a bit of gentle guidance, they took interest in their job, asked questions and made a 180 degree turn. Later on, I found out it's the training program (or lack thereof) at that company that created some SERIOUS skills gaps.

I always say...."when you hire somebody and they possess not even one nominal skill set to be able to 'start learning' their job....don't blame them, go find their parents and slap them up side the head."
Remember that MR, when you have kids.....it's not the school or the daycare or the government that raises your kids......it's you. Look at JP and Bret and the skill sets their boys have ........ and I don't mean the embedded knowledge but the common sense, organizational skills, ability to follow and take initiative.......their compassion for others, respect for others and the environment/nature......that's what you call leading by example; rather than promotion......
I'll put the soap box away.....

'Morning Bret and everyone. Doug, I was fortunate to have jobs that required detailed record-keeping early in my career so I developed those habits pretty early.. Too many people start off with work along the lines of "screw the paperwork, just git'ur dun!" and never develop appreciation for good records. If they're thrown into a position where good records have to be maintained but aren't even shown how to do it (a lot of that stuff is computerized and many of those CRM's are JUNK), they can slip up and get shoddy. The ones with potential will take the advice of people who know what they're doing (assuming the place is hiring such and that those have enough spare time to give their coworkers a hand up) and get good. The rest will keep doing shoddy work until they move on or get fired.

With that being said, I agree with you that JP and Bret are giving their kids a HUGE head start on the rest of the kids out there. They will be starting out with a lot of knowledge/skills/attitudes that some of us have had to learn in the school of hard knocks.

    MR,
The last 10 'youngins' I hired were all shown the successful, time proven way to keep track of jobs, customers, parts, project progress, etc, etc and they all elected to 'whatever it'....
I have not been fortunate enough to hire someone like yourself out here in the land of fruit, nuts and flakes for 10 years.....way to go......
    How's it in TO?
SLOWER than I've seen it in 36 years here......it's brutal........not sure what we are going to do....
