I remember clearly saying loud enough to those in the lunch room when we were eating-that the test will be about mechanical advantage-fulcrums, levers, etc. But more about your ability to read. They're going to ask stupid questions like "If the sky is blue and you have a low side PSIG of 30 and are running R-22, what temperature is your refrigerant?" They're asking you to look at a PT chart. Sure, they want the right answer, but its more to see if you read the question. Rumor mill has it that quite a few guys that go in do not move ahead as they fail to follow simple instructions on filling out their names and information on the application packages and tests. And that this may even be causing a first year shortage.
I mean, the test intake before yours that I saw, some applicant was walking around the training hall taking selfies of himself in the classrooms. I wasn't even polite when I asked him to move LOL.
I did have a good idea for you though. Try finding a company that does server room units. With your IT background a company might be inclined to take you on as you will know your way around a server room.
