Last I heard, they were getting more aggressive with the chemo. 4 treatments one week, then one treatment the next then back to 4. The treatments are starting to have more of an affect on him.
With Christmas and New Years, we haven't had much by way of scout meetings (no school, no scouts)

Not even Art. You see by comparison, I make as much as a teacher with about 5 years experience in the States. Im primarily a maintenance/small repairs/labour guy right now. I just hit the 3rd year of being in field last month.
Teachers teaching full time here in Ontario, with lets say the same experience as the demographic I mentioned above (5 years), make less than double what their counterpart in the States does. They may be making 40-50k a year with a masters in the States. Here, they are probably making 80k a year.
From the Globe and Mail dated Dec 5/12:
.Annual starting salary for a new teacher at lowest and highest pay rates: $45,709, $55,404
Salary for a teacher with more than 10 years of service at the lowest and highest pay rates: $76,021, $94,707
They can go on all they want about how our kids are better and brighter blah blah blah. But as a graduate of the Ontario high schools, I had teachers that barely spoke English that I could not understand. Teachers that were racist and while empowering students of "visible minorities" put down white kids like myself and the 10 other white kids in the school.
I did have some teachers that really cared. Some that kept relighting the pilot no matter how bad the thermocouple got. After having roughly 40 teachers through my whole time in the school system I can name them BOTH.
Truth is in all the high schools I went to (I transferred almost every year because I really needed one special physics course that was only offered at a few schools but kept getting cancelled due to lack of interest) you would see about 4 classrooms full of grade 9 students (so about 60-80). Our graduating class was only about 20-30?
I know the old saying you can take a horse to water but you cant make it drink. However, what if we only changed half the filters, let pulleys wear themselves down to the motor shafts, Didnt bother taking motors and shafts apart for bearings. What if we didnt treat any of the water in the chillers or boilers and washed coils with a squirt gun? And then decided to hold walk outs demanding that we get paid more right on the days where a blizzard was coming, or on the hottest day of the heat wave. We could say we dont get paid enough to deal with angry customers who give us a hard time because the part had to travel half way across the US and its our fault that it could only take 10 days to get there. We dont get paid enough to risk neck and limb when were laddering up and its starting to sprinkle.
IMO. All these gruppy Ontario teachers need to step down. I have friends who went to teachers college who have literally sat there and debated working their shift at Walmart or taking a two day substitution job. They dont want to do it for the money, they want to do it because they want to teach. Then teachers say "Oh we dont have the right materials to teach with. Our textbooks are the 1979 editions." Well, when they they basically pay you 10k a month to say "Simmer down... Bueller, Bueller....," there really isnt much left to work with is there?
Then they say the kids are unteachable which yeah okay there are a few that are just...lost. But when they cut programs likes trades and arts and music what did they expect would happen? That kids who were born tradesmen who were rebuilding their bikes at 13 can just sit through Mathematics for Accountants? Yah...thats where my downfall started. But they cant have trades programs because too many kids will use tools to assault other students. Really? Because the only thing that ever happened to me was a guy broke my 3 ring binder with a hammer.
I think that they should be paying teachers in the States more. For they do the same job with less pay. And schools from what I have seen arent even a 1/4th as dangerous here as they are there. But the teachers here? Until a student can come out of the public system and say that each teacher taught them what they need to know and they truely gave a damn about their students and they got to experience everything from computers to the trades to the arts I say **** 'em.
Okay soap box is free. Doug Ive used a sniffer in a resi geo handler. Place was cool and humid-thought there might be a leak on the "freon" side. But I have installed heat pumps and have done service on process chillers.Get money, get paid.

Hey Ray........you need to get your lazy a$$ back out there and 'contribute a little more' to the 'victims' in society......the Attawapiskat band needs another $110M of your money to......well.....to 'secretly and with impunity, spend on their people' as they see fit. Don't you dare ask where your tax dollars went either.....
Ray, as I said....it'll be up to you and my daughter's generation to 'treat everybody equal' which means EVERYONE puts their shoulder to the wheel and CONTRIBUTES BEFORE they can take ANYTHING from the 'social bank account'.....or you'll be living in teepees and hunting squirrels for food. Too many 'marginalized people' doing nothing and taking everything!!!!

'Morning Bret and everyone! I agree with you Doug.. The reason many Commie countries became industrial powerhouses after being feudal agricultural backwaters for millennia was that everybody pitched in and worked hard to build them up. Those that didn't, got sent to gulags. Most neo-leftists don't know their history, so their philosophy is "do nothing and let the government take care of you"... Well, guess what.. If nobody works hard, nobody will be taken care of.

You know......that gulag thing might be an option......
I was opting just for the rule that "if you didn't pay any taxes (contribute to society) then you don't get to vote" philosophy.....but the gulag thing's looking MUCH more effective.....two fold.....they then are not only FORCED to contribute, but are now an asset to society, rather than a liability.....and sucking the life out of society.....

Really? What happened to the money they got from the chop shops on the reserves?
The social bank accounts gone already. Even before the recession they were saying that with the amount of baby boomers out numbering us Gen Y's that the CPP will be sucked dry by the time Im ready to hang up the gauges. But then we bring whole families over from other countries, give them healthcare as refugees that exceeds that covered by Provincial programs, give them housing allowances and EI or welfare or even pensions because they had to bring Grandma and Grandpa with them.
Then factor in the obesity plague and the increased resulting strain on our health care system when the butterballs hit 40-50ish and voila.
Canada needs to grow a set. But as long as there are left wing parties out there offering "The easy way," nothing will change.Get money, get paid.
