You need to start your own company there Art.....then you can write all the cheques you want and deal with all the positive, happy, ambitious, hard working employees you can stand.....as they rip you for not being an 'nice boss'....

I made him an offer that I would continue to work, and he could pay me for the vacation I had already earned.
Instead, he is paying TWO guys today, who traveled first to my house (over an hour) to get the parts, and then, who will do the job I would have done in the same amount of time, and it will cost him more.
So, he decided to spend more on labor, when all he had to do was write a check, and spend less.

Makes a lot more sense......unless he's bound by the labour laws.......as we are here. I CAN'T have an agreement, even signed by all including individual's counsel.....which will allow me to work the guys over 8 or over 40 on a project, then if/when we get it done pay them out a bonus....NOT ALLOWED to do that.....so no bonus.....only O/T that is HEAVILY taxed, whereas the bonus could be in the form of contractual and subject to way less taxes.
Also, at Christmas, I'm not allowed to give them a bonus/gift.....without applying full tax on it.....not even once a year for $XXXX.XX dollars....$%#@ing government...!!!

Sure, he could have just wrtten a check, with the taxes, and he still would have saved money by doing that.
